Why you are here....

Since I've suffered with migraines for over 30 yrs, I thought I'd try chiropractic therapy and chonicle my progress. I hope it gives someone else an solution whether this treatment is right for you. Gives a whole different meaning to "step on a crack, break your mother's back".

Posting schedules

I thought I'd let you know I'm gonna post everyday that I get an adjustment, or attend a workshop/seminar at the chiropractor's office.

Today, laying face down, Dr V cracked my center spine, and 'wrenched' my neck on each side, but the wrench to the left (direction my chin is going in) was a little tighter than the right. It was very tender after he did it, but it seemed to calm down as he asked me to stay there  for a while (on my back) afterwards. After the initial three cracks (on my back), he had me roll on my right side and bend my upper leg and cracked my hip. Then onto my back and he uplled my neck, then took my temp on each side of my neck with a temp scanner. Since the temp was really off before the cracking began, he said it calmed down after resting for a while. Must be healing.

This is an improvement from the first adjustment, since I got a headache from the first one.

A New Beginning...(I hope)

Today was my first (actually second) trip to get my back adjusted at the chiropractor's office. And I feel fine...

Okay, maybe it's better to tell you some history of how I got to his office (...and no, I'm not giving directions, unless I'm asked). I work with a woman who suffers from fibromyalgia and was in such pain, she was almost in tears at work. She has found such relief and benefits from this particular office, that when they had a 'free x-ray and exam' around Valentine's day, she thought of me (with my migraines). I went for the free stuff, but being a usual skeptic, I went with the thought of 'just checking them out'.

My exam showed some severe damage to the spine in the upper neck area, and some of my vertebre at the top of my spine was 'twisted'. (Boy, now THAT's the first time I've ever been called 'twisted'! Although I'm sure, not the last...) The doctor, (which I'll refer to as Dr V in the future) said he can see the area that is affecting my headaches and thinks that they should be able to help (well, duh, isn't that what he should say to sell me on their services??) I even have two  fused vertebres in the neck area. My hips are out of alignment which he said makes one leg longer than the other, although I wouldn't notice it walking (just shows up that way on the x-ray). Do you think if I'd taken my sneakers off before the x-ray- I was standing up for it- that my hips would have been even? I think maybe (here is the skeptic in me again).

Since we have no medical insurance, (my hubby has switched jobs and isn't up for ins for 90 days) and he's not heard great things from the other guys in the shop-auto body-regarding the insurance they provide. This probably means I'll have to check about getting it with my company-which doesn't cover the costs of this treatment.

So... I figured out if I pay, for example, $130 a wk for medical ins for us, I'm paying about $520 a month-just for insurance that wouldn't cover this. Add the cost of this treatment ($498 month), and the cost of having insurance, and I'm paying out over $1000 a month to get chiropractic therapy.

Without insurance, this treatment (48 sessions) will cost me $2392 vs $2990 (I'm saving $598- 20% discount by paying it all at once), which equals out to $49.83 a session. If I'm going 4 days a week, to start, that's about $200 per wk. Being on layoff, IF I took the medical ins. with MY company, I would have to come up with twice the cost ($1040 a month) and pay it all at once for two months ($2080). And that STILL wouldn't cover treatment, although if I get in an accident, I'm up shit's creek for any other medical care!! Oh, well, that's how I'm justifying this journey.

Let's just say I'm doing this with a lot of prayer! I'm hoping the migraines will be less frequent and less intense. IF THIS WORKS, I'll shout their names all over the place (and yes, I realize that chiropracty doesn't work on everyone). Let's hope I 'snap out of it' soon.
